How to install a Xerox printer on an Apple

Sample Printer

One common question for the ASCTech desktop support team is "How do I install a Xerox printer on my Mac?"

First, determine the model of the printer you want to install. The model will be listed somewhere on the printer. In the case on the left, it's on the front right below the "Start" button.

Find the driver on Xerox's website. If you're given the option between EFI Fiery Controller and Built-In Controller, choose the Built-In Controller. Download the driver.

Apple Printer Package

Once you download the driver, run it.

The package will run a program to determine if the software can be installed. Click Continue.

Click Continue to agree to the software license.

Click Agree.

Click Continue to begin the installation.

Click Install.

You will be prompted for your password. Enter it, and click Install Software.

During the install, your computer will automatically detect the printers that are in your vicinity. Select the printer you want to install (make sure it's highlighted in blue), and click Continue.

After the printer is installed, you'll have the option to print a test page and set the printer as default. Check or uncheck these boxes and click Continue.

You will get a notification that the printer installation was successful. Click Close.
