Digital Accessibility 101
“Accessible” means a person with a disability is afforded the opportunity to acquire the same information, engage in the same interactions, and enjoy the same services as a person without a disability in an equally effective and equally integrated manner, with substantially equivalent ease of use.

Accessible Course Content
CarmenCanvas is Ohio State’s learning management system (LMS) and was deployed for student and faculty use in Spring 2016.
The accessibility of an individual’s experience in CarmenCanvas depends on two things:
- The accessibility of the platform itself
- The accessibility of the content placed within CarmenCanvas

Captions for Live Events
The University requires all affiliated online events to be live captioned. Effective Autumn 2021, automated captioning services provided by programs such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams may be utilized without filing an exception EXCEPT in certain circumstances.

Software Testing
All software purchased for the classroom and the office needs to be reviewed for digital accessibility.
Through that testing it will be determined if the software needs an exception and accommodation plan.
