Continuing Migration of Canvas

Carmen visual identity with Canvas underneath

As the migration work from D2L (old Carmen) to Canvas (new Carmen) continues for the Office of Distance Education and eLearning (ODEE), so does the work for many departments and centers in the College of Arts and Sciences. As this work continues here at Ohio State, I would like to offer ASCTech’s support in helping your faculty, staff and instructors successfully migrate or implement a new course within Canvas for spring term 2017. Spring semester courses will be available in Carmen in mid-November. Instructors will be able to create and migrate courses into Canvas courses at that time. Please know that the D2L instance of Carmen will be taken off-line at the end of spring term 2017 and all courses and content therein will no longer be available for use or download. I would like to ask you to urge all faculty, staff and instructors to complete the migration at this time. If instructors want to continue with D2L for one more semester, the exception form should be completed immediately (http://go.osu.edu/canvasexceptionform). Instructors who expect to teach in D2, have completed an exception form and received approval will have their courses created for them by ODEE. If you would like to meet for a consult to talk about a departmental plan or a customized training opportunity for your department, please contact me by email at kaylor.1@osu.edu.
