Could you or your students use an iPad?

Stack of iPads

ASCTech has 10 iPads available for loan to students, faculty, and staff in the College of Arts and Sciences (ASC) for academic purposes!

ASCTech personnel can visit your classroom and talk to students about collecting audio or video content and producing media. Or let us know what applications you want on the iPads* and we'll work with you to get them to your students. Contact us today to start using them in your classroom.

Potential academic uses for iPads:

  • develop and test an app on the iPad
  • record audio notes in the field
  • draw images of objects in the field
  • record conversations for research
  • record group brainstorming sessions
  • annotate images
  • create and store digital portfolios

Previous uses include

  • documenting trips such as for choreography on the Great Wall of China
  • assisting in plant identification and annotation
  • generating ideas for storytelling
  • recording video for digital storytelling

These iPads are fully ADA compliant, including voice-to-text and character recognition.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate students do not have to be ASC majors, but they must be enrolled in an ASC class and have written instructor permission
  • iPads can be borrowed for two week terms, which are renewable according to demand.

*We install free apps for no charge, but ask for reimbursement to install for-pay apps
