ASCTech Announces CrashPlan Availability
As part of its efforts to ensure data security and integrity, ASCTech now offers CrashPlan computer backup software to faculty and staff in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Once installed, CrashPlan automatically backs up data on Ohio State-purchased computers every 15 minutes. ASC employees working on Windows, Mac or Linux systems can count on CrashPlan to recover documents from ASCTech-administered storage. Unlike the implementation of Box at Ohio State, CrashPlan isn’t a repository of files that are accessed frequently or shared, but rather it's an emergency recovery solution, one for use in case of a catastrophe like loss of a computer or significant hard drive damage.
ASC employees can install CrashPlan on devices purchased with Ohio State funds by opening the “Self Service” application on a Macintosh or the “Software Center” application on a Windows computer.
For further information about CrashPlan or assistance setting it up, please email ASCTech or visit our help page.
